P Pada industri perminyakan untuk mengembangkan suatu lapangan migasdiperlukan suatu gambaran mengenai bagaimana distribusi properti fisik batuan serta bagaimana proses geologi membentuk dan memberikan karakter terhadap batuanbatuan. Salah satu hal yang sangat menarik untuk diperhatikan dalam karakterisasi reservoir adalah dengan melihat hubungan antara porositas dan permeabilitas dari suatu tubuh batuan, di mana dalam pengerjaannya digunakan harga porositas dan permeabilitas data core karena merupakan flow unit yang menggambarkan keadaan yang sebenarnya dari batuan yang dianalisa. Adapun pembagian rocktype pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode flow zone indicator (FZI), di mana FZI adalah pembagian tipe batuan berdasarkan karakter aliran dari suatu reservoir dengan menggunakan data porositas dan permeabilitas. Kemudian dengan mengintegrasikan dengan hasil perhitungan petrofisik dapat dilihat bagaimana sebaran rocktype pada uncored intervals. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada lapisan reservoir batupasir “A” dan “B” Formasi Duri, serta lapisan reservoir batupasir “C” dan “D” Formasi Bekasap yang terletak pada Cekungan Sumatera Tengah. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa terdapat 4 tipe batuan (rocktype) dari daerah penelitian berdasarkan harga FZI yang diperoleh serta setiap rocktype memiliki perbedaan kemampuan dalam mengalirkan fluida.

After flow zone indicator (FZI) values calculated from porosity and permeability data, the rocks can be divided to some rocktypes,then by integrating the results with petrophysical calculations, it can be seen how the distribution of rocktype on uncored intervals. Research was conducted on sandstone reservoir layer "A" and "B" Duri Formation, as well as sandstone reservoir layer "C" and "D" Bekasap formation, located in Central Sumatra Basin. The results showed that there are 4 rocktypes of the study area based on FZI values, and every rocktypes have differences in the fluid streams
