K Kota Sukabumi merupakan salah satu kota di bagian Selatan Provinsi Jawa Barat yang memiliki luas wilayah sekitar 4.842,451 Ha, jumlah penduduk Kota Sukabumi pada tahun 2015 sebanyak 318.117 jiwa. TPA Cikundul merupakan TPA yang melayani Kota Sukabumi dengan luas lahan TPA sebesar 10,7 Ha, dengan 3 zona aktif dan 3 zona tidak aktif. Saat ini metode penimbunan sampah yang digunakan TPA Cikundul adalah metode controlled landfill, dengan sisa umur TPA yang diprediksi oleh Dinas Kebersihan Kota Sukabumi dapat menampung sampah selama 2 sampai 3 tahun ke depan. Pemerintah Kota Sukabumi bekerja sama dengan Pemerintah Kabupaten Sukabumi untuk membangun TPA Regional, namun hingga saat ini belum ditemukan lokasi yang sesuai. Dengan demikian diperlukan upaya alternatif untuk menambah umur TPA Cikundul agar sampah Kota Sukabumi masih dapat ditampung. Evaluasi kondisi eksisting TPA Cikundul dilakukan menggunakan metode Integrated Risk Based Approach (IRBA) dengan hasil indeks risiko sebesar 553,7, yang berarti TPA Cikundul dapat diteruskan atau direhabilitasi. Umur TPA dapat ditambahkan dengan menerapkan metode landfill mining, dimana dilakukan penambangan pada zona yang telah ditutup selama minimal 6 tahun dan kemudian dapat digunakan kembali. Penambangan sampah memiliki 3 kegiatan utama, yaitu penggalian, pemilahan material, dan pemanfaatan material. TPA Cikundul dapat melakukan penambangan sampah pada zona tidak aktif 1, 2, dan 3. Penggalian dilakukan dari arah tenggara dan dari atas tumpukan. Penggalian secara vertikal dilakukan selama 4 tahap, yang masing-masing tahap ketinggiannya tidak lebih dari 5 meter. Hasil penambangan pada zona tidak aktif 1, 2, dan 3, dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai tanah penutup harian sebesar 24.852,88 m3 dan dijual sebagai tanah urug konstruksi sebesar 298.380,01 m3. Zona tidak aktif 1, 2, dan 3 yang telah dilakukan penambangan, digunakan kembali untuk menampung sampah secara sanitary landfill. Zona tidak aktif 1, 2, dan 3 yang telah direhabilitasi dapat menampung sampah selama 1.144 hari (3 tahun 49 hari). Total biaya yang harus dikeluarkan untuk merehabilitasi TPA Cikundul adalah Rp. 93.634.776.881,23 dan total perkiraan hasil penjualan material penambangan adalah Rp. 235.950.346.653,55

Cikundul landfill is a landfill that serves the city of Sukabumi with a land area of 10.7 ha of landfill, with 3 active zones and 3 inactive zones. Currently, the landfill method used by Cikundul landfill is controlled landfill method, with the remaining age of landfill predicted by Sukabumi City Sanitation Department can accommodate solid waste for 2 to 3 years ahead. The Sukabumi city government is working with the Sukabumi Regency Government to build a Regional Landfill, but to date no suitable location has been found. Therefore, an alternative effort is needed to increase the age of Cikundul landfill so that the solid waste of Sukabumi City can still be accommodated. Evaluation of existing condition of Cikundul landfill was conducted using Integrated Risk Based Approach (IRBA) method with risk index of 553,7, which means Cikundul landfill can be continued or rehabilitated. The landfill age can be added by applying the landfill mining method, where mining is done in a zone that has been closed for at least 6 years and then can be reused. Landfill mining has 3 main activities, namely excavation, material sorting, and material utilization. Cikundul landfill can conduct waste mining in inactive zones 1, 2, and 3. Excavation is done from the southeast and from the top of the pile. The vertical excavation is carried out for 4 stages, each of which is not more than 5 meters in height. Mining results in inactive zones 1, 2, and 3, can be utilized as daily covering ground 24,852.88 m3 and sold as construction land of 298.380,01 m3. Inactive zones 1, 2, and 3 that have been mining, are reused to accommodate solid waste in sanitary landfills. The revitalized inactive zones 1, 2, and 3can accommodate 1,144 days of waste (3 years 49 days). Total cost to revitalize Cikundul landfill is Rp. 93.634.776.881,23 and prediction for total sales of landfill mining material is Rp. 235.950.346.653,55
