T Tulang mandibula adalah tulang terbesar dalam cranium, terdiri dari corpus mandibulae, ramus mandibulae, dan angulus mandibulae. Pertumbuhan tulang mandibula yang kurang optimal dapat menyebabkan kurangnya ruang erupsi gigi sehingga gigi molar ketiga dapat impaksi. Impaksi molar ketiga mandibula, terutama kelas IIA dapat meningkatkan resiko fraktur angulus mandibulae karena mengurangi kekuatan dan kualitas tulang pada daerah sekitar; dapat diukur melalui Angular Cortical Thickness (ACT). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan ACT pada laki-laki dan perempuan dengan impaksi gigi molar ketiga mandibula kelas IIA melalui radiograf panoramik. Penelitian observasional analitik ini menggunakan tiga puluh enam radiograf panoramik digital yang berasal dari Rumah Sakit Gigi dan Mulut Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Trisakti. Hasil pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata ACT pasien impaksi gigi molar ketiga mandibula kelas IIA pada laki-laki adalah sebesar 1.1644 mm, sedangkan perempuan sebesar 1.1156 mm. Hasil analisis data independent t-test menunjukkan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0.438. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan rata-rata ACT melalui radiograf panoramik, pada laki-laki (1.1644 mm) dan perempuan (1.1156 mm) dengan impaksi molar ketiga mandibula kelas IIA, walaupun tidak berbeda bermakna secara statistik.

The growth of mandible that is not optimal, could decrease the teeth eruption space, resulted in impacted third molar. Impacted mandibular third molar, particularly class IIA, could increase the risk of mandibular angle fracture due to the decrease of bone strength and quality in the region, that can be known by measuring Angular Cortical Thickness (ACT). This study was aimed to determine if there is a difference in Angular Cortical Thickness between men and women with impacted third molar class IIA according to Pell and Gregory’s classification using digital panoramic radiograph. This observational analytical study used thirty six digital orthopantomographs from Rumah Sakit Gigi dan Mulut Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Trisakti. This study shows that the mean of ACT in men is 1.1644 mm, while women is 1.1156 mm. Using independent t-test, the result of pvalue is 0.438. It could be concluded that from the measurement, there is a difference in ACT between men(1.1644 mm) and women (1.1156 mm) with impacted third molar class IIA in panoramic radiograph, although not statistically different when analysed using independent t-test.
