R Rancang bangun dynamometer dalam penelitian ini berfungsi untuk mengukur gaya pemotongan pada mesin freis. Untuk dynamometer tipe loadcell dipilih bentuk octagonal. Loadcell dengan bentuk octagonal memiliki keunggulan yaitu dapat mengukur 3 gaya dan tidak perlu menggunakan slip ring. Dynamometer dirancang dengan kapasitas gaya Fx = 2000 N, Fy = 2000 N, dan Fz = 2000 N. Perancangan menggunakan perangkat lunak CATIA V5 dan ANSYS, masing- masing untuk menggambar geometri loadcell dan anlisis kekuatannya. Selanjutnya adalah pemesinan keempat loadcell. Regangan (strain) yang terjadi pada loadcell diubah menjadi besaran listrik (analog) oleh strain gauge. 32 strain gauge dipasang pada keempat loadcell sedemikian rupa sehingga mampu mengukur gaya pengefreisan. Untuk mengkonversi besaran listrik dari dynamometer ke besaran gaya dilakukan kalibrasi dengan pembebanan statis. Data yang didapat saat kalibrasi gaya vertikal dan gaya horizontal dibuat menjadi grafik dengan menggunakan Ms.excel.

I In milling process, cutter position will affect the total tangential cutting force, DThe design of the dynamometer in this study is used to measure the cutting force on the milling machine. For loadcell type dynamometers the octagonal shape is selected. The octagonal loadcell has the advantage of being able to measure 3 forces and not need to use a slip ring. Dynamometer is designed with Fx = 2000 N force capacity, Fy = 2000 N, and Fz = 2000 N. The design uses CATIA V5 and ANSYS software, each for drawing loadcell geometry and strength analysis. Next is the fourth loadcell machining. Strains that occur in the loadcell are converted into electrical quantities (analog) by the strain gauge. 32 strain gauges were installed on all four loadcells in such a way that they were able to measure the compression force. To convert electrical quantities from dynamometers to force magnitudes, a static loading calibration is carried out. Data obtained during vertical force calibration and horizontal force are made into graphs using Ms.excel.ynamometer will be used and equipped with oscilloscope to measure the cutting force that occurs during milling process. This study will measure the total tangential cutting force in various cutter position. The cutter position will be place in 100%, 70%, 50%, and 30% of the end mill diameter. During the cutting process, cutting speed, material removal per tooth and depth of cut will be constant. The cutter tool that will be used is endmill 30 mm with 4 flute. In this experiment, the object that will be used is steel JIS S45 C (Japanese Industrial Standard) and cooling liquid will not be used. The experiment result will be compared with existing theories from literature. So it can be concluded that cutter position in radial direction will influences the magnitude of the tangential cutting force total.
