F Facial paralysis is a cranial nerve disorders most commonly found and often occurs as a complication of various actions taken in oral surgery. This condition must be treated because it will cause discomfort to the patient due to his inability to move his facial muscles either one side or two sides. Facial paralysis can be caused by virus, trauma, tumor formation or idiopathic conditions. The primary treatment is to protect the cornea on affected side of the face with an eye patch, application of artificial tears or eye ointment to keep the eye moist at day and night. It should also be given steroid drugs to reduce inflammation response and accelerate the healing process. Physical therapy and botulinum toxin injection also can be given to help the recovery process. More agresive procedures such as temporalis muscle transfer and XII-VII nerve transfer can be done if the facial nerve has a permanent damage.
